WHO BOUGHT IT:  Angela!

LET'S GET NERDY: This wine is made for Marks and Spencer's at the renowned Casa Marín in Chile. It was started in 2000 by María Luz Marín who, against advice from colleagues and experts, decided to establish her winery in Lo Abarca, a small town in the San Antonio Valley. Despite warnings about problems with location, the cool climate, and people’s disbelief, she was successful in creating a company whose wines have received numerous world awards, contributing to position Chile in a distinct light with its high quality and high-value wines.

PARTY FACT: María Luz Marín is the first female Chilean winemaker and winery owner, and has a degree in agronomy and winemaking from Universidad de Chile. Ever cutting edge, she successfully established the first cool climate winery in South America and the Pacific Coast. Get it, girl!

THE VERDICT

CARO: Looks like the grape juice I would binge on as a kid, smells like my brother’s ex girlfriend’s dog, but the little fizzy-fruity-boozy dance it’s doing on my palate is actually not as bad as what the effluvium originally suggested!

ANGELA: I feel this wine has everything you’d classically want from a Pinot Noir: delicate strawberry and cranberry notes, a slight stink and smokey note followed by light mouthfeel, fresh acidity and red fruits. It’s not making me jump around with excitement but it ticks all the Pinot boxes and is a well-made wine at a great value.

KATE: This Pinot has an deee-lightful autumnal stink that reminds me of walking home from work through Beacon Hill in my early 20s. This wine is juicy, has a bit of a pop, but still keeps it light and lovely. Not that I used to do this in my early 20s, but I'm sure this wine would taste great out of a flask, whilst spying through the windows of the super rich folks who live on the posh side of the hill...

WOULD WE HAVE ANOTHER GLASS? Caro thinks this wine smells like a dog... Luckily Kate and Angela love dogs!! Bring on the wine.
